Sarah
Today I'm grateful for my crazy friend, Sarah. She is my shorty friend and I have to say that it is really fun to tease her about her short problems. Last year on her Christmas wish list was a step stool so she could reach things in the kitchen better. I'm laughing right now because I still find this hilarious and laughing is one of my favorite things to do at, I mean with Sarah.
She and I moved here about the same time but it took a year or so to get to know each other and as we spent lots of time together, I realized just how awesome she is. Although if I had just asked her, she would have told me. She is silly and funny and yet very easy to talk to about anything. She is a good listener and non-judgmental and loves to tease me back. It is easy to be myself around her during the good, the bad and even sometimes the ugly. She has seen some of my worst parenting moments and supported me through them as well as be happy with me when my kids do something amazing. She loves them too and has spent a lot of time taking care of them for me.
We've had lots of fun adventures together that include my surprise birthday beach bash where we spent hours together out in the ocean swimming and also a girls weekend where we hid her bra in the hotel refrigerator and I could hardly sleep because at 4am she was still giggling and whispering like we were 12. We also went on vacation together this past summer and had so much fun spending all day at the beach and then staying up late to play games every night. It was the first time we had traveled with friends and I appreciated how easy going she was about everything and that there wasn't any awkwardness or issues and in fact, we had a fantastic time. It is just easy to be with Sarah because she is honest and open and chill and I love her family too. Her daughters are good friends to my kids and that makes it all the more pleasant to be together.
Sarah and I are pretty opposite in a lot of ways (she likes to give birth at home while I prefer going to the hospital, she refuses the flu shot while I always get mine, she nurses her babies for almost two years while I can hardly stand two days, she's a shorty and I'm tall, she's always late and I like to be on time) but that's another reason I like her. We understand each other and get each other emotionally and share a lot of similar interests and beliefs, even while being so different. I'm grateful every day for her friendship and that I know I can count on her for whatever I might need. She is a true friend in every sense of the word and she brings a lot of fun and laughter into my life, sometimes on purpose and sometimes not. :)
