Making in through March

March is the longest month. There are no days off of school or work and it is just a push to get to the final quarter of school and spring break and that much closer to summer. Baseball started last week and the boys have practice on the same night, which unfortunately makes Wednesdays really busy. Thankfully Curtis's is late enough that Josh can take him while I am with Brandon but throw some church activities and dance in there and things get nutty!  Anyway, it was a fine week with all the normal stuff; laundry, teaching piano, baseball, dance, Emma had student council, I made a dip for the teacher luncheon, went to the gym, talked with Leisa for awhile and then went to the grocery store, more baseball, more dance, more piano lessons. Thursday Michelle and I went to the temple and it is always wonderful to be in the temple. It wasn't our smoothest visit though. We missed the session by minutes which delayed our whole day and I ended up not picking up Curtis but also being l...

Lion King Jr.

Our elementary school is the only one in the county that does a musical for fourth and fifth graders. Emma was very excited back in October to try out for Lion King Jr. We even called my brother-in-law who is a high school music teacher and has done lots of shows for tips and audition help. She is a natural performer and she loves to sing and dance. I had a parent text me and tell me that she wished they had 20 more kids like Emma in the show because she was always listening and on task as well as a joy to work with. That made me feel really good and I am proud of her for bein...

Florida Part 2

Monday was an amazing day. Months ago when I was planning our trip I had found this list of the best beaches in the Keys and one of them listed was Dry Tortugas. I looked it up and found it is a national park that is only accessible by plane or boat. I thought going on a seaplane would be awesome so I emailed them and they were all booked. I was really disappointed but they put us on a cancellation list and we hoped for the best. Thursday, while we were doing our city tour of Miami, we got an email saying they had a spot for us! I was so excited.  So Monday we drove down to Key West and spent the day. We started off by going to the Zachary Taylor State Park to check out its beach. We didn't have a lot of time but we walked around and decided it was a good one. It had cool trees right on the beach and there wasn't too much sea grass. I would have liked to have more time there  but I'm glad we at least got to see it. Then we went to the southern most point of the continent...
