Australia and Michigan

So Josh left on Mother's day to go to Australia for work and he was gone until May 22. It was a long time to be gone (again--he just did two weeks in CA at the end of March/beginning of April) and I was actually pretty annoyed that he was going somewhere so cool without me; scared too because he would be so far away and by himself a lot and it made me nervous. But, I fasted about it and felt much better afterwards. Still, it is so tiring to be the only parent and I really feel sad for single parents. The emotional weight is heavy, even when things are good.  But, he had a great trip. The jet lag is real and he has been tired since he left but he had a successful trip from a work stand point and he got to spend the weekend in Sydney and had a great time. He went to the Opera House, botanical gardens, two beaches, went surfing, visited an art museum, and walked all over. In Canberra he toured the houses of Parliment and the war memorial and scootered all around the city. He saw kanga...

Merry Month of May

May has not felt nearly as busy to me this year as it has in years past and I think that is for two reasons. One, Curtis isn't playing LL baseball and his high school season is done. So a lot less conflict in the evenings and an activity already over has really helped. He was sad when the season was done and when they cleaned out the locker room yesterday but he is most likely going to play on a fall league that actually starts in August so he just has a few months off from baseball. He would have played in a summer league but with camp and youth conference and our beach trip he would have missed too much of it to make it worthwhile.  The second reason is of course Lily being able to drive. It is amazing how not having to do even just the simple task of picking the girls up from dance every day at 6pm has simplified my life. So much less running around to get them home and so much less stress, especially on a day like today where Lily is leaving dance early to go volunteer for NHS....

The rest of April was good. Back to normal schedules with school, baseball, dance and church. I went to book club and it was fun. One morning I took Lily to the ENT because she couldn't hear out of one ear. Turns out they had to vacuum ear wax out of her ear (one of the funniest sounds I have ever heard) and then she pulled out a chunk of ear wax that was stuck to Lily's ear drum. It was so gross and cool at the same time. It took all of 10 minutes and Lily could hear again--hooray!  I also took everyone to the dentist one morning and it was four for four no cavities--another hooray! I love that our dentist can do all four appointments at once so we are in and out in 30-40 minutes. I went to my annual physical and then Michelle and I took Sarah out for a late birthday lunch on Tuesday and that was fun. then I went to the temple Thursday. I listened to general conference on the way up and talked to my sister on the way home and it was fun to get caught up on all the young adult ...
