The week I wasn't in Florida having fun with my friends

This week was challenging and fine at the same time. Monday was a holiday and it was so nice to have a break. I taught the Wiest girls piano lessons and then just invited them to stay and play for awhile and it was so fun to be with friends and relaxed and it was a wonderful day. Tuesday was busy with everything I didn't do Monday plus piano and dance and book club. It was a bit choatic having to drive back and forth to dance twice during it and tuck all of my kids in but I guess I should be grateful it is virtual right now so I could participate at all. While Josh's injury is frustrating on many levels, the blessing is that not much is happening in our lives right now so it could be much, much worse. What if he were coaching basketball  (or even if Curtis was just playing a sport right now) and having to go to church for church meetings twice a week? It is tough enough just to get him to work and home each day and my girls to dance. Much more and I wouldn't be able to han...

Another week

This week was not all that interesting. Monday was piano, laundry, cleaning, an eye appointment, school and family night. Josh worked a bit checking email and such. Tuesday was more of the same except he had some meetings and phone calls and so was more unavailable to the kids when they want to just run downstairs and say hi. The girls also started back at dance that night so I was in a zoom RS meeting and then had to go pick up Emma so I listened on my phone while I drove there and back. After we got home and got pjs on then I had to turn around to go back and get Lily. Usually Josh and I split up these dance runs but for the next 12 weeks, I am it so that is fun. At least we live close by. Wednesday Josh actually went to work. I drove him to meet his co-worker since I can't get on base and then I did body pump and worried all day if Josh was taking it easy and not pushing himself too much. He felt pretty good and gets a workout using crutches to get around. I am glad he is easin...

Recovery Week

Well, it has been kind of a weird week. We are so many iterations away from normal and I just felt kind of off all week. Josh has been doing pretty well. He has been pretty sleepy since Tuesday evening so he was just downstairs on the couch in and out of sleep all day and all night. Our big sectional kicks out and he kind of made a bed out of it but he could sit up when he wanted to and he had a bunch of pillows and blankets to keep him cozy. He watched a ton of cooking shows (pizza and bread) and basketball and football and a few movies. He was off the pain meds by Friday and felt pretty rough for a few days but is better now. Today he is actually doing what he can to work (catching up on email and talking to the guys at work and I think doing a virtual meeting). He really needs to get into work at some point this week and that is going to be complicated but we'll figure it out. His follow up is later this week and I'm anxious to hear what the doctor is going to say. I came ...

Week 42-Welcome to 2021!

Happy New Year! I got sidetracked and busy. Last Monday my parents had planned to leave to go to my sister's but they ended up staying an extra day so we played games and my kids played their Christmas songs again for them (did much better this time) and I sat around talking with them a lot. It was nice. We got Nicolletti's for dinner and had family night and it was all good.  Josh's ankle was still really swollen and black and blue and gross so he sent some pictrures to Mark Henderson and he told Josh he should probably get in to see someone. Josh tried Mark's old office but they were busy and recommended him to another doctor and he went Tuesday morning. Dad actually dropped him off and then my parents left and we were hard core cleaning when Josh called for me to come pick him up. He was really upset and totally freaked me out. Turns out it was broken and in many places so he needed surgery. It turned out to be a rough day. Josh was so emotional and upset and we wer...

Week 41

Merry Christmas! It was a good week. It has been wonderful having my parents here and Josh has been off all week and no school for the kids so it has been relaxed and fun and busy with Christmas activities. Tuesday we baked lots of cookies and watched my girls' virtual ballet Christmas show and then that night we took treats to a few people and sang some carols to them. It was a sweet experience all around.  Wednesday we finished the baking and made cinnamon rolls (ok, my mom did, not we) and that night we watched White Christmas while Josh was doing church stuff since he doesn't like that movie. We also all ran some Christmas errands and made a few trips to various grocery stores. Thursday, being Christmas Eve, is one of my favorite days of the year. Josh and I snuck out for a quick Christmas errand and it was thrilling to be out alone together, even just for half an hour. I got the turkey, rolls and Jello going and then we watched Noelle. Then it was cooking and eating our de...
