Week 11

Hey friends, or at least to the five of you I know read my blog. Here we are finishing up another week. It has been a pretty good one but right now I am feeling restless and up for something fun and different. I really wanted to go to the beach today but I couldn't get my crew on board so I have spent most of the day trying not to be frustrated that we are doing the same thing we have done for the last 11 weeks despite the fact that it is a warm and beautiful summer day. Monday--We actually had a really nice Memorial Day. I declared it an all day play day, which basically meant no projects for Josh so that he would pay attention to us all day. We had a fun breakfast and then went to Dorsey Park. Our ward always has a picnic there on Memorial Day and it just felt like the place to be, but it was weird without our ward family. We played on the all new play equipment and then walked on the wooded trail and then played some more. There were only two other families there and we used s...

Week 10

Week 10 of pandemic quarantine and weird life is in the books. It was a pretty rainy week and a bit bleh but we made it. Monday was laundry, ironing, figuring out how to return Lily's jazz shoes that were too small and all the regular stuff (piano, cleaning, school, exercise), then family night. Tuesday was actually a busy day. I did a zoom workout from my gym and then I took Emma and Curtis to the doctor for their well check ups and we were the only ones in the office. I debated about waiting but Curtis needed his tetnus booster and it just didn't seem wise to put that off right before summer. If life was going to get back to normal soon, I would be willing to wait but it could be months and months and I just feel like life needs to go on as much as possible so I took them. It was quick and easy and they are both growing well and Curtis got his shot. Josh was even able to come home and do some work here so that I didn't have to take Brandon with me so that worked out. ...

Week 9

This is starting to get kind of old but here we go. I don't even know what I can remember at this point. Monday--laundry, ironing, making sure the kids did all their stuff, taught a piano lesson, we dipped things in chocolate for our family home evening treat Tuesday--honestly have no idea. Oh wait, I did my first zoom workout. I logged into a class from my gym and it was painful but wonderful. I was so sweaty and felt really pushed for the first time in months and I loved it. I was in a really good mood all day afterward. But we did the same stuff as every other day until the evening. Lily and Emma had their zoom dance classes, I had a Relief Society activity on the 5 Love Languages which I already know all about so it felt a bit long, especially because there was no invited participation. Wednesday--So exciting, we actually did something. It was a gorgeous day and we went strawberry picking with the Ainas. We got there right when it opened and it was a bit more crowded than...

Mother's Day

Forgot to post this on Monday but here it is a few days late: I have very low expectations for Mother's Day but yesterday was actually very nice. The best thing is that Josh had no church responsibilities, which was wonderful. He could completely devote his time to me and the kids and for one Sunday a year, it is fabulous. I woke up, took a shower and came downstairs to waffles on the table, flowers and lots of cute cards taped to my chair. It was very sweet and thoughtful. We had our church meetings and it was nice to have just the women for a week while the men had their own meeting. The RS presidency taught a thoughtful and spiritual lesson and I'm grateful for their leadership and testimony. Michelle is especially awesome and I can't imagine who is going to replace her. Then the youth had their class and I spent that time sending texts to my friends. I really have been blessed with wonderful friends who help me so much. They watch my kids when I need help, they laug...

Week 8

How in the world did we get to week 8 of all of this? Monday was a good day. Laundry day--can I get a woot, woot? Kids did school work, practiced the piano, they played outside because it was beautiful, I gave some stuff from the garage away and it was exhiliarating (I just posted some free, well-used kid stuff on our neighborhood page and most of it was gone in two hours), and I taught a piano lesson. I even did some ironing for Josh (he still wears white shirts every Sunday and most Wednesdays) and felt very productive indeed. We had leftovers for dinner and had a fun family night. Our lesson was on how our bodies are a gift from Heavenly Father and why it is so important to take care of them (and how to do so), then we made a chalk obstacle course for our game and the kids were super into it. We each designed two squares on the sidewalk and then went through it a few times before we raced. Josh barely beat me and then Curtis, Brandon, Emma and Lily was last because she kept messin...

The Trythalls

Image
When I was done writing my last blog post on Sunday, Lily and I figured out dinner and had just come up with a plan when the phone rang. It wasn't a number I recognized but I answered it and it turned out to be none other than the Trythalls! Sister Trythall had sent me FB message asking for my phone number a week or so ago and I couldn't believe it was real. I sent back asking if this was a hoax and she responded and said no and asked when a good time to call would be. I sent my number and let her know Sunday afternoons were a good time, as well as most mornings and voila! They actually called me! President Trythall was my first mission president and I absolutely adore him. I'm sure I've written about him on here before but I could not have been more happy that he called me. There are four men that I have very strong feelings about: my husband, my dad, President Hinckley and President Trythall (with an honorable mention to my father-in-law who is a wonderful guy). Pre...

Week 7-Part 2

Thankfully the week took an upturn and we chugged up the roller coaster hill again. Friday Josh was off and just having him around made everything better. I went to the dermatologist to get my stitches out and found out my mole was begnin, so that was good news. We watched another science class from the Franklin Institute, which was not as interesting as the first one but still good. They only did one demonstration this time and it was all about the electromagnetic spectrum. Kids did their school work, Curtis and I went on a bike ride to Evergreen once it stopped raining and then Lily had her dance classes. When she was done we had spaghetti and meatballs for dinner and then watched the Great British Baking show, scriptures and bed. Lily and Curis and I played Five Crowns and then they went to bed and Josh and I had a double date night on house party with the Wiests. It was fun to talk and play and just reconnect with them. Two hours later we watched a Psych episode. I had forgotten ho...
