Camp

Image
Last week Josh and Curtis went to West Virginia with the young men for camp and it went really well. It rained just about the whole time but they were still able to do everything they had planned. They built their own rafts then floated down the river a mile, did three hikes, photographed a cemetery for Billion Graves as their service project and they went white water rafting (which had been Curtis's idea). They all loved it and everyone got along and there was no drama. Josh had to be supportive and positive with a few boys who thought the hiking was going to kill them but in the end, they all did it and had a good time. Josh said the area was really beautiful and that it was the best camp of the three he has been in charge of. He got a little emotional telling me about it because it went so well and it will be his last one as bishop so he was just thrilled with how well the leaders all worked together and how good and helpful all the boys were.          ...

First Week of Summer

Image
Our first week of summer didn't actually feel very summery. We drove up to Rochester Monday morning and got there in 7 hours and 20 minutes with no stops. We all just like getting there and my kids are good at keeping themselves entertained so it was an easy drive, although rainy from Harrisburg on. We had a nice dinner with my parents and then my sister and family came over for family night.  Tuesday we went to brunch (my mom gets together once a month with some of the older ladies in her ward so we joined them) and then I drove the kids around the house I grew up in and my old neighborhood. I showed them my middle school and high school (where Josh and I met) and my dance studio. Then we went to the library and played at a cute park for awhile and then we went over to KayLee's for dinner. We played corn hole (my team won both times) and bocce (again, my team made an amazing come back and won) and then family feud (my team lost horribly). I didn't get great one-on-one tim...

Peter Pan

What a week! In one sense I can't believe it is over but it was also a very long week. I cleaned and prepared for my in-laws to come and took Curtis to baseball practice Tuesday evening while the girls were at another long rehearsal. Wednesday I went to the gym and the grocery store and then learned about the wildfires and poor air quality. Curtis's practice ended up being cancelled and they had to change youth activities last minute, but Curtis did a good job of figuring that out. My in-laws got here and the girls rehearsed and it was a busy evening.  The sad thing was that Emma was supposed to go on a field trip to St. Mary's City on Thursday but that was also cancelled. I was supposed to go with her and this is the second time I had planned on going on this field trip with a kid and it was cancelled. Lily didn't go on her field trip because she was sick, Curtis's was scheduled for March 27, 2020 so that obviously didn't happen and now Emma's was cancelle...

Baseball, piano and dance

Life is good.  The rest of May was so busy but it felt better having Josh around. Curtis had his middle school track meet and ran well in his races. The boys both had practice and games on the same nights so it was a lot of dividing up to get everyone where they needed to be. Brandon is thankfully on a wonderful team and it has been a great season for them; not for Brandon so much. His coaches are so kind and helpful and I know Brandon can actually hit the ball and will do so again soon. For Curtis it is the opposite. His team is not that great and I'm not a fan of his coach but Curtis has had an exceptional season. I sat through a tough game up in Hughesville two weeks ago and then his first play off game a few days ago was rough but then Curtis pitched on Saturday and it was a fabulous game (things always go better when he pitches). The team all played well and they won so they ended up third out of four teams in the county and the season ended on a positive note. He is pla...
