American Heirlooms

 Saturday we hung out and talked and Josh made pizza then it was dancing time! The show this year was American Heirlooms and there really wasn't much of a story; it was mostly just very American kinds of things. Lily was in a West Side Story dance for jazz, Serenade for ballet (a classic Balanchine), Stars and Strips for pointe, a MLK Jr. dance for modern and then a beautiful 9/11 dance and a funky pointe social media dance. I found the MLK one very moving and the West Side Story was probably the most fun with all their skirt swishing. Lily has improved so much over the past year and dances with an ease that wasn't there last year. It was really beautiful to see and I'm so proud of her.    Emma was in four dances this year. Breakfast at Tiffany's was her pointe, Founding Fathers was her contemporary and was fun (the music was Hamilton), she was Cinderella for ballet and then her jazz was Wall Street and she did a great job with that one. Catching up

 The last day of school was very busy for me. My friend was swamped and weeks ago asked if I would help with her daughter's graduation party, which was our last day of school, and I was happy to be of help to her so I spent some time researching ideas and helping come up with a plan and then I ended up doing about half the decor and food. Josh and I did have a nice morning together though on our last morning date for a few months and it was nice to relax and talk and just have some time to be. Then it was crazy go time; we picked up Curtis, got flowers for the party, welcomed home our done-with-10th-grader, then packed up the car so that as soon as the elementary kids got off the bus we could head up to the party. I made tons of mini cheesecakes, buffalo chicken dip, a cheese and cracker plate, I had the drinks and fruit plus corn hole, balloons, flowers, jars to use as vases and so it was a lot.
