17 Years
In this moment I am overwhelmed with love and appreciation for the man I married. We have had 17 years worth of experiences together and I'm grateful for all of them. From the first time he asked me out on a date to when he was holding our last baby with such tenderness, whether they were good or bad, I'm grateful to have shared them with him.
We've had water fights in amusement parks, driven across the country, welcomed four children into the world and manged to come up with names for them, watched the sunrise on the beach, explored big cities, dealt with financial stress, finished three college degrees, moved four times, put together bookshelves and bunk beds, watched hundreds of movies, changed thousands of diapers, served in multiple church responsibilities and supported the other in doing so too, purchased two new cars, taken moon lit walks, cried together, attended lots of BYU football and basketball games, gone to the temple together, taught our children how to ride a bike, planned parties and surprise birthday presents, figured out how to use the metro system in multiple cities, read thousands and thousands of books to our children, slept on airport benches, had season passes to Disneyland, endured years of infertility and a devastating miscarriage, buried a beloved grandmother, eaten countless delicious meals and a few really bad ones, seen the largest Buddha statue, swing danced, played tennis, ridden horses, figured out the recipe for awesome Oreo milkshakes, hosted Christmas parties, camped that one time, jumped ocean waves, run through the rain, cleaned up throw up together, taken a cruise, watched fireworks, gone sledding, played lots of ping pong, been stuck in horrendous traffic, missed a flight, explored museums, painted walls, planted a garden, prayed together just about every night of our marriage, walked the Freedom Trail, talked and talked and discussed and disagreed and talked some more, but mostly we've just loved each other. Loving a honest, loyal, kind and fun spouse and having his love in return is the experience I'm grateful for tonight.
