Camp

Last week Josh and Curtis went to West Virginia with the young men for camp and it went really well. It rained just about the whole time but they were still able to do everything they had planned. They built their own rafts then floated down the river a mile, did three hikes, photographed a cemetery for Billion Graves as their service project and they went white water rafting (which had been Curtis's idea). They all loved it and everyone got along and there was no drama. Josh had to be supportive and positive with a few boys who thought the hiking was going to kill them but in the end, they all did it and had a good time. Josh said the area was really beautiful and that it was the best camp of the three he has been in charge of. He got a little emotional telling me about it because it went so well and it will be his last one as bishop so he was just thrilled with how well the leaders all worked together and how good and helpful all the boys were.

While they were gone, things were pretty chill here. Lily did Lily camp with Emma and Brandon and two neighbor girls for about two hours each morning. They made rain catcher things and played games and did a craft and the kids loved it. Eli came over to play with Brandon and Emma played with her friend down the street and Lily worked on her summer homework for GIS and went to dance in the afternoon. We had the sister missionaries over for dinner and Lily and I watched a lot of Gilmore Girls together. Saturday we had the Wiest kids here for a few hours while Sam and Leisa went to a retirement party and that was fun. Josh and Curtis made it home by dinner time and we had a nice family dinner and watched Hometown Takeover.

Sunday was a nice day at church and then Josh left for St. Louis, or at least he tried to. He sat at the airport for six hours before they cancelled his flight so he drove home and got back about midnight. It was nice to have him around Monday morning before he was able to schedule another flight and he left again that afternoon.

Emma is doing a Girl Scout camp this week so she is gone every day from 8-5 and she loves it. She is my people girl and the social time is so fun for her. Plus they do lots of crafts and sing camp songs and do water play and she loves it all. Lily left for young women camp in Virginia yesterday and I am sure she is having an awesome time. So me and the boys are hanging out. Yesterday I cleaned Lily's room and Eli came to play with Brandon and I went for a walk and did some grocery shopping. Today Curtis is starting his Curtis camp with Brandon. He has a schedule for each day and it includes things like knife safety and carving soap, setting up tents, making a fire, playing baseball, pool time, roasting hot dogs and making smores. It is really cute and sweet. Last night they watched a movie and slept in the basement in their sleeping bags. I love that my older kids take such interest in their younger siblings and think it is fun to teach them and do activities together. And I took zero pictures this week but thankfully camp leaders have! Lily is a lucky girl to have such awesome YW leaders; they just happen to all my friends and I love them!
