Corfu, Greece




 This was my day to plan and I had decided I wanted a relaxing beach day. I did very little research other than to pick the best beach so we got off the ship, got an uber and he took us across the island about 25 minutes to what he told us was the best part of the island, Paleokastritsa. It was a pretty beach surrounded by cliffs and a bit crowded but we had fun swimming and Curtis jumped off some of the cliffs while I was treading water nearby and it was a lovely day. We just swam, sat on the beach and relaxed and then Josh and Curtis went for a walk up the cliff but Lily and I stayed in the water. It was nice and cool and lots of fish to see and I just love being in the water. especially when it is so clear and blue. We got out to dry off and walked around the little shops for a few minutes but then we just took an Uber back to the ship and that was our day.





It would have been nice to try a Greek treat or something local but there wasn't really anything by the beach and I didn't want to go into the town at all and use up our beach time. So, I have been to Greece but can't say I had a very Greek experience. Our drivers were both super nice and it was a lovely day. We got back on the ship and had dinner and went to see the magician again. Nice, easy, relaxing day.

 The first full week of school went well. Boys were busy with baseball and cross country and I started piano lessons. I had a goal to exercise for 30 minutes every day and I met that goal and it felt good.  I also had a goal to do something nice for someone outside of my family every day and that went pretty well. I made bread Tuesday and felt like I should take some to a neighbor who moved in about the same time as us and we've been friendly in the past but I haven't seen her in a long time. So I took a loaf over to her and we talked for about a half hour and turns out they had dropped her daughter off at college that morning and she was sad. I am so amazed sometimes by how well God knows us and it felt good to reconnect with her and hopefully lift her spirits a bit. I'm so grateful for spiritual promptings and answers to prayers. Besides the car drama, September has been a good month. Here's the update: Lily--Had Nutcracker audition and we're anxiously waiting for the cast list but it was the first audition she didn't cry about afterwards so we are hopeful. Started teaching her own ballet class and assists in three others and she loves it. Got her BYU application in! She is also really enjoying her classes this year and is so happy we were able to get the car fixed so she can live her best senior life. She and Emma got to go to the temple last night and they had a good experience.    Curtis--Busy with cross country and baseball. We have spent two Saturdays watching him play baseball and it has been nice. Of the four games, two were pretty tough and one was fine and one was great. Last night I hosted a pasta party for his whole cross country team since they have a meet today and that was fun. Oh what fun!

 December is always crazy and I always think, maybe we should cut back, but then I realize everything is related to service or is a kid activity they love so I guess it will just always be a busy month. For family night on Monday, Dec 8 we went down to Jason's house to help him out. He is Josh's co-worker and his wife is pregnant and just found out she has colon cancer. It is a very challenging situation so we wanted to help and he said the best way that night was to put up their Christmas lights. It was literally the coldest night of the year so we bundled up and told the kids they had better not complain and got to work. It took longer than we expected so we got home late but I think it was worth it and hopefully helped their five kids feel like things were more normal.   My mom and dad came on Dec 9 and we had a nice week with them.
