Senior Prom
Friday night we went to Curtis's game up at Calvert HS and just as we got there the lightning alarm went off and everybody had to clear the field. We sat in our car for about 40 minutes while it rained and then it was sunny and nice again so game on! Nicole was there to cheer on Claire so we chatted and I had invited Elizabeth to come since we were right by her house so she came over and cheered with us too. It was fun to talk and see friends and both Curtis and Claire played well but their teams lost. It was a close one and probably the best game we've watched so far (besides maybe the Patuxent one) so lovely night all around despite not winning.
Saturday we went to the ward fun run (well, me and the boys) and Curtis and Brandon ended up doing the whole 5K while I walked with the Coxes and Grondels. It was fun to chat with them although I felt a bit like a fifth wheel since Josh was home doing homework. There weren't that many people there but I think it could be a good event if next year we knew about it more than a week ahead of time and could invite our neighbors and friends. We chatted at the park for awhile and Josh joined us there then we went up north to Brandon's game. He had fun and they won so that was good, then home to do some more power washing and curl Lily's hair and then it was prom picture time.
Lily found a cute little park I had never been to before and we had the place to ourselves for pictures. She looked so pretty and was very low-key about her hair and makeup, which I appreciated. I felt so much pressure for our senior prom to be fancy and I think she had more fun because she was comfortable. She even went to the store and got flowers and made a bouquet for herself and her friend that wanted one. She is so resourceful and knows what she wants and is just a sweetheart all around. Emma came to be the artistic director and some poses worked better than others. :)
She went with her good friends and they had fun. They had dinner at Cracker Barrel (there were many conditions that made this pretty much the only place they could go) and then prom where they danced and took silly pictures and had fun. Then milkshakes at WaWa and then Adi came home with Lily for their first ever real sleepover. We really debated because our rule has always been no sleepovers but since they are almost 18 and headed for college soon, it seemed fine. Those cuties watched one show and went to bed--some sleepover! But that's fine; they had fun together and it seemed special to them so win win.
and a few from yesteryear :)
The Rays came over for brunch the next morning and it was lovely, although I was a bit stressed over a special musical number I had to play in church and I had to leave early to go practice it. I was a bit annoyed when the singers were 10 minutes late but I had prayed and prayed for help to be able to play it well and I made it through without any glaring mistakes so that was a blessing. After church Lily had to hurry home to go deliver a meal for an NHS service activity and I stayed at church with Emma since she had a presidency meeting and then an interview with Bishop Wiest.
