Easter
Sunday was Easter and we had a lovely day going to church with Michelle. Then we had a great dinner with her and her parents and then her dad was so nice and had brought a bunch of eggs so Josh and I hid those in the yard. Half had jelly beans and the other half had coins. After dinner the kids did the egg hunt and it was fun and sweet because they each got a golden egg too that had $5 in it. At home they get chocolate so this was an upgrade for them and it was so kind and sweet of Michelle's parents to do that for our kids. Michelle's mom is seriously the sweetest lady and just loves you even from the moment she meets you, which is partly why Michelle is as awesome as she is too.
We headed back to the PCH and drove south again going through all the super expensive beach towns like Newport Beach, Laguna Beach and Dana Point. We got to San Diego and went straight to the temple, which is so beautiful. I was glad the grounds were open so we could walk around and talk about how much we love the temple and are grateful to be sealed together forever. I love my family and they are such a blessing to me. Josh and I had been to this temple back in 2004 but haven't been back since so it was wonderful to bring the kids and just be on temple grounds.
Then we drove to our hotel, checked in and the kids changed and we went down to Coronado Island and walked around the beach for an hour. It was so beautiful with the sun setting and we put our feet in the water (so cold!) and walked down to the hotel and then back to our car (Lily took the dramatic pictures of Emma and Brandon--maybe she'll be a photographer). At this point Curtis realized he had lost his pennies somewhere on the beach. In San Francisco he and Emma had started collecting those pennies you can put a design on and for some reason he had them in a bag in his pocket that fell out somewhere along the beach. They went back to look for it but it was getting dark and they didn't find it. In a great moment of selflessness, Emma offered to give her pennies to Curtis. She didn't have quite as many but it was so sweet and generous and it made Curtis very happy. He even bought a book later to keep his pennies in so that was a really wonderful moment in our family and a bonding experience for those two and they have been getting along much better since we got home.
I'm so grateful for Easter and for Jesus Christ and his atonement and resurrection. There is such hope and peace in this life knowing that we will live after we die because of him and that we have the opportunity to be with our families forever because of him. I'm grateful to be able to repent and change and recognize that everything good in my life is because I choose to follow Jesus Christ. Representing him as a missionary trying to share his gospel was such a great honor and being a member of his true and living church is a great blessing, opportunity and honor as well. I love him and look forward to the day when I will see him again and can thank him for all he has done for me.
