Dance, soccer and the dentist, oh my!

Another week and I feel like there isn't much to say. Josh's sister came Wednesday to surprise the kids and they were all so happy to see her. It has been two years since she has been here and 18 months since we've seen her so it was good and they were all shocked when she knocked on the door. Thursday was school work and piano lessons and Brandon's soccer practice. Friday Josh took off and it was a tough day for me. I forgot to change my piano lesson and so he showed up as I was about out the door for dentist appointments. Josh ended up taking them and I got there just in time to go in with Brandon and take over so he could go home and hang out with his sister. No cavities and they even pulled out the last five of Curtis's baby teeth so that was great. Then I wanted to go donate some clothes and a bike and realized they only were there until a certain time (15 min from the moment I realized it) so I grabbed it all and shoved it in the car and drove over there just in time to watch the truck drive away. So lame. But a very nice lady offered to take it for me to wherever the truck was going so it worked out but I just felt two steps behind all day.

Saturday was a big day and I was really anxious for some reason. Brandon's soccer game ended up getting cancelled because the fields were wet so that simplified it a bit. Curtis still had his game first thing in the morning so Josh and Nikki took him while I got Emma ready for her recital. Thankfully they were able to move it indoors but it wasn't on a stage and was kind of hard to see and I shouldn't have volunteered to be a ticket scanner because it was stressful but Emma smiled and danced and it was great. She's really made a lot of progress this year and I'm proud of her.

We got doughnuts and went down to the wharf to eat them and play for a bit. Then we came home, took a bunch of pictures, watched Raya and the Last Dragon, took Lily to her rehearsal and then we went out to Red Robin to celebrate a fun weekend.

Sunday was Mother's day and I was really emotional all day. I cried when I talked to my mom because I'm so grateful for her and I cried when my sister-in-law toasted me at dinner and I cried that for some reason Josh didn't bring me flowers like he usually does and I cried when my kids weren't being very helpful with dinner and I cried during Sunday school thinking about my special temple experiences. My kids did give me sweet cards and Josh made pancakes for lunch and church was nice and dinner turned out well but it was kind of just a long, emotional day and it is hard to feel like everyone is forced to be nice to me that day and yet disappointing when they're not. I do so much for those kids and it just seems like when I ask them to clear the dishwasher, they should jump up to do it. If not, then I feel like I'm doing something wrong as a mom. But, they are kids and learning and someday they will appreciate me.

Monday I drove Nikki to the airport early and Josh got the kids off to school. I got back to an empty house and was so tired and so I ate, took a shower and then watched Jeopardy for a bit. Then I made a grocery list and taught piano and made dinner while Josh and Curtis were at soccer.

Tuesday I helped with school and took Lily to the orthodontist for round 2 of braces, took the girls to dance and went to a relief society meeting about music that was nice. Wednesday I picked up groceries and ran some errands then made cookies and dinner to take to the Ainas. I got to meet baby Ezra before heading to soccer practice. Emma and Brandon had fun playing at the park and I talked to my sister on the phone.

I started this last Thursday and here we are already to Monday. Not much happened over the weekend other than dance, two soccer games (it was such a beautiful day and we saw a few other church families which was fun) and watching Full House as a family. Josh got us new phones and it took awhile to set them up but I really like mine. Lily made my favorite strawberry cake yesterday and everything was going well until Brandon forgot to close his door as we were leaving to take Curtis to his bus this morning and I backed out, the door hit the garage and shattered the window and knocked the door out of its track. Brandon was crying, Curtis was yelling and it was a mess. Thank goodness for Mike Schram who took Curtis to school for me and then I just watched a tow truck take my van away and may or may not have gotten a bit teary. I hope it is a quick fix. What a year! I've never had any kind of accident or caused any car damage before so I was totally shaking, even though I was only just backing out and going super slow, it was still painful to see my car broken. Thankfully the body of the car isn't damaged so I hope it isn't too big of a deal to fix. Just a pain in the neck and money.

Five weeks of school left! My piano recital is four weeks from today and then I get a break from teaching, which is awesome. This weekend is Curtis's last game and stake conference and Lily's last rehearsal before her show. Spring stuff is wrapping up and it is almost summer! Hooray!
