Dancing with Daffodils

 Twenty years ago today I was getting married and it was seriously the best day of my life. We have had lots of wonderful days since then but that day was so full of love and joy. Josh and I had been dating for 5 plus years at that point (well, if you can count a mission as dating). Maybe I should say that we had loved each other that long and knew that it was important for both of us to serve missions but we missed each other a lot and were so happy to finally be together. I remember feeling so happy that our lives were finally joined and we could be in the same state and even better, the same apartment! It was probably the only day of my life I have felt beautiful and it was so wonderful to have my family, Josh's family, our high school friends, my favorite mission companions, ward members, neighbors and former teachers and leaders all in one room to celebrate with us. I don't even know where to begin. I guess I will start with Greg. Friday morning (March 24) we got a text from my sister Debbie that my sister Cindy's husband, Greg, was in the hospital. He had a collapsed lung and couldn't breath well and so that was why they went but then they discovered he had a massive infection that had already damaged his other organs because his lungs weren't oxygenating them well. He was put on life support and we all prayed and hoped he would make it through the night, which he did. We felt hopeful and the mood seemed to be that he was going to make it but have a long recovery. We all fasted for him that Sunday and our family prayed a lot and Cindy even said Monday was a good day at the hospital. Then on Tuesday afternoon we got the news that he was brain dead and that afternoon they suspended life support.  March is the longest month. There are no days off of school or work and it is just a push to get to the final quarter of school and spring break and that much closer to summer. Baseball started last week and the boys have practice on the same night, which unfortunately makes Wednesdays really busy. Thankfully Curtis's is late enough that Josh can take him while I am with Brandon but throw some church activities and dance in there and things get nutty!  Anyway, it was a fine week with all the normal stuff; laundry, teaching piano, baseball, dance, Emma had student council, I made a dip for the teacher luncheon, went to the gym, talked with Leisa for awhile and then went to the grocery store, more baseball, more dance, more piano lessons.  Our elementary school is the only one in the county that does a musical for fourth and fifth graders. Emma was very excited back in October to try out for Lion King Jr. We even called my brother-in-law who is a high school music teacher and has done lots of shows for tips and audition help. She ended being in Ensemble B, which she was kind of disappointed about, but it turned out great. She was in so many scenes and had such a good experience. In Circle of Life she was the only one in a bird costume and she had a little dance solo as she entered the stage. It has been a lot of after-school rehearsals but she loved every second of it and is already excited to find out what the show is next year. She is a natural performer and she loves to sing and dance. I had a parent text me and tell me that she wished they had 20 more kids like Emma in the show because she was always listening and on task as well as a joy to work with.
