last week of February

The last week of February was normal and good. Monday was a relaxing snow day. Everybody kind of just did their thing (only Lily and Brandon went out in the snow and only for about 30 min) and the Wiests still came over for piano since the snow was already melting. For the first time ever (thankfully) I had a piano student throw up during a lesson. Luckily Leisa was here to clean it up so I didn't lose it too. Then Josh sanitized everything and we kept going with piano lessons. We also had a nice family night that evening. Tuesday I went to Inklings at Michelle's house and then made a grocery list and taught piano lessons.

Wednesday was the gym and grocery store and it was good to catch up with Leisa about her trip to Puerto Rico. Then it was two grocery stores, making dinner, I took Emma to the orthodontist and then got three big kids out the door (with dinner and treats) to go to the temple. It is always a bit of a sacrifice but they all had a really good experience. Lily came home so excited to get endowed and be able to go into the rest of the temple, Curtis got to do baptisms for the first time and said it was great and Emma really felt the spirit and was much happier when she came home then when she left. I love the temple! I knew Brandon was going to be lonely so we invited Ethan over to come play and have dinner with us and that worked out nicely. Brandon really misses Danny and having a neighborhood friend to play with though. Josh had his first test of the semester and he felt pretty good about it. This first class hasn't been bad yet; he is busy with homework but work has been so chill that it has kind of balanced out.

Thursday I went and played pickle ball and then went out to lunch with the pickle ball ladies. It was fun and I really enjoyed playing and socializing with some ladies I am not great friends with so it was good to get to know them better.

Friday was Josh's day off so we went for a long walk and talked a lot and figured out some life stuff and enjoyed a lovely morning together. I love our day dates. Then I went and subbed for two hours and then Curtis had his friends over so I got all the snacks ready and he made brownies and Josh got pizza. His friends are all the most polite and nicest high schoolers I have met. They have all been in STEM since 4th grade with Curtis and some of them do cross country and baseball so I know who they are, but it was fun to have a group of kids in our home and they had a good time playing games until pretty late.

Saturday was the championship game for Brandon's league and three of their best players were at some soccer tournament so they weren't there and we couldn't win without them. The six boys left played hard but got so tired and just couldn't keep up. It was a bit annoying to me that the only game they lost all season was the championship game because 1/3 of our team didn't show but whatever. It doesn't actually matter. So we watched his game and the girls went to dance and Curtis had baseball try outs and Brandon and I played pickle ball while Josh did homework. Then Josh and I took Lily and Abby up to Bowie to see their friend from our stake perform in her high school musical. Josh and I used it as a chance to get together with John and Sue, who live in Baltimore so they came down and met us and we had dinner with them close by to the theater. It worked out super well and it was so fun to catch up with them. I wish we had thought to take a picture but I haven't taken a single one all week. We got home late and Curtis was finishing a movie and reported all was well while we were gone.

Josh did say some very sweet things to me this week that I don't want to forget. One was that he said I was the perfect wife and how he'd been thinking about that a lot lately--very sweet. He also said that if our kids should love him for anything, it should be that he married me. He said they have it so good and that I am an amazing mom. He always says nice things but for some reason that one really caught me by surprise and made me feel very loved. We've spent a good amount of time together lately and that always does good things for our marriage.
