Snow week!

The fun just continued Monday--games, laundry, movies, piano practicing, pjs, sledding, and then I did teach the Wiests piano since the roads were clear enough for them to get here and Curtis still had drivers education. I was surprised when they still got Tuesday off and that was a little disappointing because that meant no Inklings and no basketball practice and no dance either but I did still teach piano. Wednesday I was also disappointed because they cancel my gym class if there is a delay or school cancellation so no gym for me and so I just went to the grocery store. I was shocked they got Thursday off too; I was supposed to substitute for a music teacher and I was sad that got cancelled but luckily the girls resumed dance because my kids have gotten so lazy this week! All they've done is read, watch movies, sleep in late, eat fancy breakfasts (we've done waffles, French toast, crepes, croissant egg sandwiches and pancakes) and a few cleaning jobs here and there, with a sprinkling of piano practicing. I did paint the girls bathroom Monday and then the water closet yesterday so that was good to get done and I do enjoy just hanging out with the kids but it is also a lot of mediating and encouraging them to use their time well and helping them stay engaged in good things. It has been nice for Curtis not to have homework or baseball workouts in addition to drivers Ed so that has been a bonus and it has been cute that Brandon and Curtis have watched a Star Wars movie every day so today they are on episode 5. Curtis doesn't always do a great job engaging his siblings so it is nice when he chooses to spend time with them.
Today was already going to be a day off so Emma is off at a birthday party and Josh is home doing school work. This was his first week of classes but UMD had to cancel because of heating and water issues so he was disappointed; he is just so anxious to get going. Josh and I went for a walk and Lily and Brandon made brownies and life is literally very chill. It has been below freezing all week so the ice that covered the snow is solid and probably won't melt for a few more days.
