Whoops, typed this up awhile ago and never posted!

What a week. Tuesday was my birthday and it was one of the best I have had in a long time. I woke up and read for awhile because my kids had told me I couldn’t come out until 9:30. I came downstairs and they were dancing to our birthday song and had a beautiful breakfast on the table. They had decorated my chair and had all my presents on the table, just like I do for them. It was so sweet.

After a nice breakfast (Josh had a very busy day at work but he left me flowers) Lily told me it she had some entertainment for me. I had no idea what she was talking about but we went downstairs and she showed me a video she had made of some of my friends wishing me a happy birthday and sharing a favorite memory of me. She had the idea all on her own and contacted my friends without me having a clue and it was incredibly thoughtful and totally made the day so special. 

Then I got ready and we went to Elms beach for a little while. We didn’t swim; just walked around and played ladder ball and enjoyed the sunshine and sand. It was fun to be with my kids and they made me feel really loved. We got cherry limeades on the way home and then showered and took Lily to dance and then Curtis to baseball. 


 

We had imitation cafe Rio for dinner that my kids made and an amazing chocolate peanut butter ice cream cake that Lily made. It was all delicious and then I got to open my presents! My sisters got me soap and books and some I ❤️NY clothing. Lily did the most beautiful painting of Jesus and she and Emma also got me a new hat. Curtis and Brandon got me new muffin pans and Josh got me a new computer. We have been wanting one for almost two years and I told him to just do it and call it my present. It is a huge improvement over our old desktop and I am hoping it will help me organize our pictures and videos better. 


Josh was sick all week so he went to bed early every night but the kids and I stayed up and watched a show together. The night before my birthday he worked really late so for family night the kids and I watched my family’s home movies. They loved seeing me when I was little and it was so fun to watch them together. I have a really good life and am so blessed; my kids are the sweetest and Josh loves me and I have good friends and enjoy the blessings of living the gospel. I am very grateful!

Wednesday I took the boys school supply shopping and Curtis to cross country and lily to dance then the church youth activity. Thursday and Friday the boys were gone at the Little League Works series where they had a great time (except Josh is still pretty sick) so the girls and I went to Panera, went shopping, watched girl movies and Lily finished summer dance. It was nice time together.

 The first full week of school went well. Boys were busy with baseball and cross country and I started piano lessons. I had a goal to exercise for 30 minutes every day and I met that goal and it felt good.  I also had a goal to do something nice for someone outside of my family every day and that went pretty well. I made bread Tuesday and felt like I should take some to a neighbor who moved in about the same time as us and we've been friendly in the past but I haven't seen her in a long time. So I took a loaf over to her and we talked for about a half hour and turns out they had dropped her daughter off at college that morning and she was sad. I am so amazed sometimes by how well God knows us and it felt good to reconnect with her and hopefully lift her spirits a bit. I'm so grateful for spiritual promptings and answers to prayers. Besides the car drama, September has been a good month. Here's the update: Lily--Had Nutcracker audition and we're anxiously waiting for the cast list but it was the first audition she didn't cry about afterwards so we are hopeful. Started teaching her own ballet class and assists in three others and she loves it. Got her BYU application in! She is also really enjoying her classes this year and is so happy we were able to get the car fixed so she can live her best senior life. She and Emma got to go to the temple last night and they had a good experience.    Curtis--Busy with cross country and baseball. We have spent two Saturdays watching him play baseball and it has been nice. Of the four games, two were pretty tough and one was fine and one was great. Last night I hosted a pasta party for his whole cross country team since they have a meet today and that was fun. Back to school

 Monday morning Emma and I went to her open house and it was crazy. I don't understand why people wait in super long lines just to say hi to a teacher. It is the most awkward conversation anyway so Emma and I just walked through her schedule, at least saw what every teacher looked like and mostly she compared her schedule to any friend we might run into so that she could figure out if they had classes together. She was disappointed that after 5th period she is kind of on her own but hopefully she'll make new friends. She has two of the same teachers Lily had and liked so I am hopeful it is going to be a good year for her. Then we went and got her hair cut.  Later I left to go up to Tyson's Corner to meet my mission companion, Michelle, from CA. She was doing an event for work at this hotel in TC and invited me to come hang out with her.
