Already October

Life is good. The most exciting thing that happened was that Brandon finally got a hit in his game Thursday evening. Emma, Curtis and I were there and I immediately jumped up and starting screaming, I was so happy. He made it to first base (it was a nice line drive to third) and everyone was cheering for him. It was so wonderful and I may have even teared up. All of his coaches and many of the parents told him congrats and what a great hit it was and I appreciated their kindness and support. At his next game he got two hits and then this last one on Saturday he got walked and then got hit with the ball pretty hard in the thigh. I was so relieved that at least now he knows he can do it and it isn't an automatic strike out when he is up to bat. It was very exciting and made me happy. I had promised him ice cream if he got a hit so even though we were all shivering in the cool fall evening, we went to get Cold Stone and it was so good.

We went to the county fair and it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. The weather for the rest of the weekend was bad so I figured it would be super crowded on Friday and yet it wasn't bad in the buildings or where the animals were when we were there in the morning. The food lines were long but thankfully not the fried dough/fried oreo line which is all we wanted and we also didn't do the rides. I had thought we would see a lot of friends but we really didn't. The kids saw some people they knew from school but that was about it. We saw all the animals and walked through all of the buildings, got a treat and saw the pig races. One of Brandon's teammates was showing his pig while we were there and we also saw Curtis's best friend from school with his sheep. We grabbed kettle corn on the way out and called it a day since both girls still had dance that afternoon/evening. Curtis also had a baseball game that they squeezed in before the weather got too bad. It rained but never too hard and it only started getting windy at the end.

Saturday was supposed to be our big service project but because of the state of emergency it got postponed and that was a bit of a fiasco. Lily still had dance in the morning but we didn't go anywhere the rest of the day, which was kind of nice, except Josh was on his phone all day trying to figure out the new plan for the service project and help calm upset people down.

The next week was busy with driving to seminary and piano lessons and picture day and Curtis had running club and baseball and I watched my friend's daughter for a bit and went to lunch with a friend and took the kids shopping for new sneakers and drove all over our county. I am grateful for this time to be with my kids and support them in all the good things they are doing. It was also Noreen's birthday so I made her a cake and we all took it to her that night and she was so grateful, although more excited to see Josh than me. He hasn't been in our ward since he got released two months ago and a few people have told me that they miss him. Me too! We had thought he would have a bit more flexibility on where he went each week but so far a lot of his schedule has been dictated to him because of things that are going on. The good thing is he has been to every other unit in our stake now and has met a lot of people, presided over his first ward conference and helped set apart and train a new Elders Quorum presidency and a branch presidency. I am hoping he will be able to come to our ward on the 22nd for the primary program.
