Home at last!

Another busy week is in the books. I spent a lot of it doing yard work. Monday I cleaned up the front two flower beds and trimmed the bushes and planted my little garden. Tuesday I cut the grass and then Wednesday I put down the mulch. It was a lot of work but my yard does look nice now and Josh just needs to put out the bunny trap to re-home our little friend (whom the girls named Moose) and fix the front sprinkler and we need to power wash the patio.

Tuesday night both of my boys had baseball games at the same time and miraculously in the same place. It was so fun to have them on the fields right next to each other and then Michelle and Frankie showed up! It was such a great surprise and so we sat in front of Curtis's game and then I would just run over and watch Brandon bat (or get walked as is more often the case). It was super sweet and even though Curtis had a quieter game, I appreciated their company and support.

Wednesday Emma had her chorus concert, which was fun. They sang a bunch of Broadway songs and it lasted half an hour so it was pretty perfect because then we could get to church for all four of their activities on time. Her artwork was also on display in the hallway; such a talented girl.

Thursday I drove up to Waldorf to have brunch with my high school friend. She lives in Alexandria so it is a good half way spot and it was her birthday so it was fun to catch up and celebrate. I remember throwing her a party in 8th grade; that's how long we have been celebrating birthdays together.

Friday I went to school to make copies for the last time this year. I've enjoyed being helpful and being at school and hope I can help out next year too. Saturday morning I took Curtis to the Kinneys to catch a ride to his game in Waldorf with a different kid on their team and they had a great day together even though they lost their game. I then took the girls to a dance rehearsal that lasted from 9-3 and then Brandon and I went to his game. His team played well even though he didn't do anything and I enjoyed chatting with the other moms. We've been on the same team long enough that we are a baseball family of sorts; something I have never experienced with Curtis's teams.

It was a nice day and then we did some cleaning and I got the girls and then Lily hosted a ballet friends party. She invited everyone in her class to come over to watch Peter and Wendy and it was fun. We got pizza and they were here all evening being loud and crazy. She had such a fun time and all of the girls were super polite and sweet. There is some dance drama going with one girl in their class (she didn't come) and the director of the studio and Lily is a bit worried about everything but I'm sure it will get worked out. I have been a bit frustrated with some of what I hear about the director lately and how expensive summer dance got this year and the six-weeks of summer dance commitment and I worry a bit about what the next few years will bring. Both of my girls are super committed to dance and they love the studio so I just hope it all works out. Lily has even talked about majoring in dance education at BYU so I need things to just simmer down at the studio.

The most exciting part of the week was that Josh finally got home after three weeks in Alaska for work. His flight got delayed and he didn't end up rolling in until 1:40 am Sunday morning but I was too excited to fall asleep and just read until he got home. It was so good to see him and have him around again. We spent the first five years of our relationship apart and I'm just over it. Week-long trips are manageable but I just miss him so much and told him no more three-week trips unless he takes me with him. :) Then we got up at 7:30 for church so we were pretty tired yesterday and had a very low-key Sunday. We have one more super busy week and then baseball wraps up (at least for Brandon) just as dance ramps up for the show in just a few weeks. Seminary is almost done and we only have three weeks left of school. I am so excited for summer and can't believe it is almost here!

  1. It sounds like you got a lot done this last week. I'm glad you have Josh home now. I know what it is like to have your hubby gone and trying to get everyone where they need to be and having to be the one making all the decisions. It is exhausting. You are amazing! Three more weeks and then the school routine is done for the summer, you've got this!
