Summer fun

We've had another great week of summer fun. Saturday Josh got home about 1pm and we helped him unpack and do laundry. Considering how difficult the first day of camp was and that they had to completely re-plan days 2-4, Josh said camp went well and was a positive experience. Such a relief to be done and I'm so glad it went well. That night we went to a Blue Crabs game and it was fun. The night before had been rained out because of the tropical storm so it ended up being a double header. The downside of that was that the second game went too late and we had to leave before fireworks. But the games were fun and we were sitting in the second row right behind the dug out so Brandon and Curtis both got balls, Curtis got to go down on the field and say "PLAY BALL!" into the microphone to start the second game and they got fist bumps from some of the players. Overall a fun summer evening, though I was sad to miss the fireworks. As it was we got home at 11pm and the kids were hard to wake up for church the next morning.

Monday was a chill day at home and the kids played with friends, we cleaned, watched TV and I read a lot. Tuesday we went to Six Flags and the Ainas came too. Brandon and I had so much fun on these purple slides that we just kept going on over and over again but later a lot of the slides were closed and there just wasn't much for the kids to do. I don't know why so many slides have been closed and the lazy river too. Not much of a water park when only two slides are actually open. Anyway, we changed, had lunch at the car and then met back up with the Ainas for some rides. It felt like rides were closing down left and right but the kids still had a great time. I even got to go on a ride I had been wanting to try and now I know I don't ever need to do it again. I like fast and hills and drops, but I think I am done with intense spinning. I can handle some spin but man, this ride spun me so fast I literally could not see strait when it was over. We wandered over to the bumper cars, which we just discovered were even there, and did the rapids ride a few times. Overall, it was a fun day, but it is a good thing tickets are pretty cheap and we have season passes. It makes it easier to be patient when the park disappoints, which has happened a little more each time we've gone. We left at closing and got some Wendy's and drove home while listening to Harry Potter 6. We started it on the drive to Rochester and have really enjoyed listening to it whenever we are in the car.  We got home at 9pm and everyone took quick showers and went straight to bed. I was pretty tired but it was another good summer day.

Wednesday I went to the gym, taught some piano and then had a relaxing afternoon. I have been really into a fun book I've been reading called Oona Out of Order. There is a bit of language, drugs and sex but the overall idea is so interesting and fun that I haven't been able to put it down. This woman is living her adult life one year at a time but out of order. So interesting! Then we were supposed to meet Josh for a picnic dinner at the pool before the youth activity but then a big thunderstorm came through and cancelled the activity so we came home and had the picnic in the basement while watching Full House.

Today we went to the beach and it was pretty good. It was quiet and peaceful and I read for awhile. Leisa did end up coming later and we had a good talk and the kids did pretty well. Emma and Curtis were being obnoxious with each other and I had to manage sharing the boogie board and kayak a lot but we all came home sandy and tired and ready for dinner and bed so that's a good beach day.
