The week I wasn't in Florida having fun with my friends

This week was challenging and fine at the same time. Monday was a holiday and it was so nice to have a break. I taught the Wiest girls piano lessons and then just invited them to stay and play for awhile and it was so fun to be with friends and relaxed and it was a wonderful day. Tuesday was busy with everything I didn't do Monday plus piano and dance and book club. It was a bit choatic having to drive back and forth to dance twice during it and tuck all of my kids in but I guess I should be grateful it is virtual right now so I could participate at all. While Josh's injury is frustrating on many levels, the blessing is that not much is happening in our lives right now so it could be much, much worse. What if he were coaching basketball  (or even if Curtis was just playing a sport right now) and having to go to church for church meetings twice a week? It is tough enough just to get him to work and home each day and my girls to dance. Much more and I wouldn't be able to handle it. Anyway, book club was a good discussion and it lifted my spirits while exhausting me at the same time.

Wednesday I did body pump, made bread, ironed, made a grocery list and taught Emma a piano lesson. That night was a bit crazy with four people in our family on four different devices for four different church activities. Brandon and I hung out and played Mastermind and that kid is surprisingly good at it. Thursday I finally had my check in with my doctor about my thyroid and we had a good chat. She asked me about a mammogram and I have conflicting feelings. My tendency is to say no way, too many false positives at my age and it sounds awful, but then again my sister's cancer was detected early by a mammogram and she didn't even have to do chemo, just surgery. I told her I would think about it. Oh the joys of turning 40. The it was piano, dance, BJs, and I called the library about some fines that we shouldn't have been charged and they ended up waiving all of them--score!

Friday I took Josh to work, taught piano, helped Brandon and Emma with school work and then cleaned the garage. I put all the drywall and entertainment center pieces in the car to take to the dump at some point and we organized all the bikes and swept and I finally got to take my new bike out for a ride. It was super cold so I kept it short but it is such a sweet bike and I can't wait to go for long rides soon.

Saturday we cleaned and moved into phase 2 of the basement rearranging. Lily and I moved the desk and computer into the maker space and moved the futon and brought out the ping pong table. I am going to paint probably this week the big wall that goes up the stairs so that will be a project and then I am looking at maybe doing some cool wall paper for the other two walls. Then Josh just needs to build the workbench and then that project will be set. I also started working on the boys' room plan. We are going to repaint and get new bedspreads and reorganize their toys. I also want to finally paint their bathroom so that will be my project after I finish the basement. I also did a library pick up and a grocery pick up and we got Potbelly for dinner, then watched the adult session of stake conference. It was good and it was wonderful to snuggle with Josh on the couch and watch it instead of having to get a babysitter and drive for two hours. Lily got Emma and Brandon to bed and she is just a wonderful girl.

Today we watched stake conference and the kids actually listened and paid attention the entire two hours. Our family is really growing up! We have been having a nice sabbath day with piano practicing and journal writing and baking and reading church magazines and talking about goals and relaxing. It really is a wonderful day of rest for our bodies, minds and a boost to my spirit.

That's it for this bleh January week. Last year at this time I was in Florida having a fantastic girls weekend and this year couldn't have been much more opposite. That makes it a year since I have been to the temple. At least I have food to eat, a nice home to live in, my wonderful family around me and a healthy body.
