Week 17

Well, this week was okay, but a bit more stressful and less fun. Monday we cleaned and did laundry and all of that life stuff. I did a body pump class on zoom from my gym and that felt so good. I love lifting weights and feeling stong and I wasn't even too terribly sore the next day even though I haven't lifted at all since March. I was super tired that day because Josh and I stayed up way too late watching Hamilton Sunday night. It was fun to see and I really enjoyed it.

Tuesday we went to pick up books from the library (and there was great celebrating in my house) and then we took Lily to dance. She did a week of summer dance classes taught all by alumni and she really enjoyed it. While she was at dance we went to Lowes and then BJs to get a bunch of stuff we needed. That night we had a relief society activity and Lily and Josh had a training meeting for her class presidency.

Wednesday. Hmmm....I honestly can't remember what happened on Wednesday. Lily and Josh had youth activities that night and it was a drawing class. Oh yea, Curtis and I went on a bike ride and later I took Emma and Brandon to the pool that afternoon while Lily was at dance. We also did a grocery pick up.

Thursday we were supposed to meet the Dorns at the park but they couldn't last minute but we still went. We just went over to the school and the kids brought their bikes to ride around the track and they played on the playground. I walked the track and it felt good just to move. Would have been more fun with a friend but that is kind of life right now. I was super stressed that day because my throat felt a bit funny. It didn't hurt but it didn't feel normal and somehow I got super stressed wondering if I had the virus and what it would mean for me and my family. The health concerns don't make me that nervous but the isolation and panic from everyone that knows me is most concerning. I was looking up our county stats all day and testing sites and symptoms and all day I was short with my kids and just not emotionally available. I sent Emma and Brandon to their rooms for a lot of the afternoon because I just couldn't handle their silly arguments or how needy they were. Our pool closed that day too because two life guards tested positive and while they didn't come back to the pool after being exposed (which also did not happen at the pool) they are closed until all the life guards can get tested. Gah! Curtis had a soccer tryout that evening so Josh met me there and while we were talking for the few minutes before I had to go pick up Lily, we had a good chat and he allieviated my concerns. He always makes me feel better. I have no other symptoms and my throat doesn't even really hurt and the chances are so small. I really dislike living in such fear and stress.

So I went to go get Lily and we grabbed some Chick-Fil-A and what a relief it was to get them all in bed that night. At 9:30 I went over to Chelsea's house to decorate her door and leave treats for her for her birthday the next day. We had to be super sneaky because she was right in the front room with the window blinds open but we did it and it was fun to see a few other friends in the process.

Friday Josh was home and that is always nice. He worked a lot on church stuff but he did play soccer with the boys and then spent the rest of the afternoon making pizza. We invited the family that I minister to over to celebrate her birthday and her son's graduation. It was hot outside but the pizza was good and we had a nice discussion. Josh really makes delicious pizza. Sometimes I get annoyed at how much time he puts into it and all the equipment that it requires but everyone always seems to enjoy it and it really makes him happy to make good pizza. He has so many books about making bread and dough and he's gotten into the science of it all and knows how to make so many different styles. I suppose it is better than a lot of other hobbies so I should appreciate it, and I do, but sometimes it just takes a lot of his time and he wants me to be so excited about it and I just can't.

Saturday I went for a long bike ride by myself and it was glorious. I even just stopped in this little corner tucked away in my big neighborhood where it was all quiet except for the bird and insects and I just listened and breathed and enjoyed being alone. Josh and the boys played soccer while I did some weeding and then we picked up more library books. Each time we go the library employee has mentioned how many we have. Then we decided to head up to a fun park about 30 minutes north of here where they kids played for an hour and then we went to get milkshakes. It was a fun family outing and nice to get out of the house for a bit. We got home and ate an early dinner then the big kids watched Star Wars with us (Episode 7) and Emma and Brandon watched thier own movie. Episode 7 is basically the same story as Epsidoe 4 so that was kind of lame and my kids were amazed at how old the main characters looked. Curtis even asked how they made them look so old. We laughed and had to explain that something like 30 years went by between filming 4, 5,6 and 7,8,9. I had a pretty bad headache that just wouldn't go away but Josh and I watched an episode of The Crown (which we have been really into this last week because I had seen it but he hadn't) and then went to bed. It was such a relief to wake up this morning without a headache.

Today feels the same as every other Sunday. We had egg burritos, church meetings, then in our singing time we learned the song Faith and then played name that tune to review all the others we have learned this year. We had sacrament meeting and then Josh went off to church meetings and phone calls while Lily baked and I planned out our week. I also listened to Emily Moran give her mission home coming talk and it was so good. She was a fun 15-year-old when she lived here and we were close while I was serving in young women's but now she is so grown up and mature and she made me cry. She shared such a beautiful testimony about the power of Christ to change our hearts and she shared some moving experiences where she felt changed for the better as she taught others the gospel. It was beautiful and uplifting and I love her. Another one of my dear young women had a baby this week and even though I had really nothing to do with how awesome these girls are and the good lives they are living, it makes me feel happy and proud nonetheless.

Anyway, here is to another week. I feel a bit tired and frustrated by what is happening in the world and hope we can find something fun to do this week. Come on lucky number 18!

Lily painted this!

The only other picture I took all week. We were playing Telestrations and Emma had to draw a tank top. She had no idea this was a shirt so she drew a fish tank top. It was hilarious!
