Life

Besides the car drama, September has been a good month. Here's the update:

Lily--Had Nutcracker audition and we're anxiously waiting for the cast list but it was the first audition she didn't cry about afterwards so we are hopeful. Started teaching her own ballet class and assists in three others and she loves it. Got her BYU application in! She is also really enjoying her classes this year and is so happy we were able to get the car fixed so she can live her best senior life. She and Emma got to go to the temple last night and they had a good experience.

Curtis--Busy with cross country and baseball. We have spent two Saturdays watching him play baseball and it has been nice. Of the four games, two were pretty tough and one was fine and one was great. Last night I hosted a pasta party for his whole cross country team since they have a meet today and that was fun. The kids were all very polite and thanked me for the food and it was nice to get to know the coaches and see some of Curtis's friends. I was super nervous about having 30 teenagers over but it all worked out well. Curtis is also rocking a very difficult school schedule.

Emma--Complains less about school this year so that's fantastic. She is loving dance and is somewhat grumpy about everything else. I made her come to the fair with me but we never connected with her friends and she wasn't happy with me but you know, memories. She also got her palate expander and will probably get her braces right before or after Christmas.

Brandon--Has had some baseball games and since his team moved up from the minors to the majors, it has been a bit of an adjustment. He's gotten hit by the ball twice already and been walked but hasn't managed to get a hit yet, but he'll get there. I helped out with picture day at his school on Tuesday and that was fun. School has been a bit tough because there is a kid in his class that is pretty difficult but Brandon recently got his trombone and got back into band, which he likes. School musical try outs are next month and he's anxiously waiting to hear what the show will be.

Other highlights from the past few weeks are when Josh, the boys and I went to the air show at Andrews AFB. It had been awhile since I'd been to one and we all enjoyed it. We saw lots of cool planes, walked through a C-5 and especially enjoyed the Thunderbirds. It took awhile to get on base and then ride the bus over to the show area so we took the bus back to the parking lot before the Thunderbirds and watched from there and it was a great view. Sometimes we could see the pilots because the planes would turn right over our heads. It was a nice day with the boys; the girls had dance that day so they stayed home and had fun together.

We spent last Friday at the fair. We picked up some of Curtis's friends and they took off as soon as we got there. We looked around the animals and then the buildings and got a treat and watched the pig races, (Lily showed up, ate her fried Oreos and left with Emma to get to dance) and then Brandon and I watched a police K-9 demo and we watched the sheep competition since Curtis's best friend was a part of it. Brandon and I left at 3:30 because he had a baseball game to get to and everyone was disappointed we somehow never connected with our friends. We all met up at Brandon's game though and it was fun. I have been bringing dinner so we picnic while watching his game under the lights and it is a fun way to spend a Friday night.

Saturday was Arts Fest at Annemarie Gardens where the girls both danced. It was fun to see them perform and it was fun to look around at all of the booths (we got into for free with our performers). Lily has volunteered there the last few years and I think it is a cool event so I was glad we got to stop in. Then we went over to Curtis's game and spent the rest of the day watching baseball.

I went to the temple today and had a lovely time, I have my substitute training course next week, piano lessons are going well, I've been to a RS ministering activity and book club and a baby shower, I went on a super long walk catching up with Michelle, worked out at the gym, my dad turned 87 and tomorrow I am going to try playing pickle ball for the first time.  Now if I could just get an evening to go see Downton Abbey!
