Good week
It was a good March week. Monday was normal with laundry, cleaning, piano lessons, dance and family night. It was St. Patrick's day but we had had a very busy week before and I'm not Irish and I don't like green that much so we don't get too into it. I usually at least wear my shamrock socks but the only people I saw were my family and the Wiests so I didn't feel the need to dress up.
Tuesday I had a ministering interview. Nancy and I are new companions but she was unable to come last minute so it was just McKenzie and I and we had a great talk. I shared with her all about my sisters and then I'm not sure what happened but I started unloading on her all of my hurt from when people who have been assigned to me haven't ministered to me (which has been a lot). It is so hard when someone is assigned to be your friend and doesn't make any effort; it makes me feel very unlovable and then it is hard to like myself when it seems no one else does. Someone once completely ignored me when I asked for help and other people said I was too intimidating and didn't even try to actually get to know me. I hadn't realized how many grudges I was holding on to until I started to talk about it with her. I love the ministering program and know it is divinely designed so that we all take care of each other but for me most of the blessings have come to me as I have ministered to others. McKenzie was so patient and sweet and with all of her set apart blessings and wisdom she said a few things that really helped me. I felt so much better after we talked (for 2.5 hours!) and was so grateful she took the time to be with me. I felt my heart unlocking to some degree and feel more able to let go and move on and forgive people for unintentionally hurting me. I also feel more able to see people's efforts. I am grateful for Relief Society and McKenzie serving so diligently in her calling and for the Spirit, which taught and comforted me in our meeting. I'm also grateful that my new ministering sisters are trying to be kind and that they are helping me in important ways.
That night was Brandon's first baseball practice and I'm excited for his team. They split the minors teams so there is an 8-9 division and a 10-11 division so all the kids on Brandon's team are older and seem to know how to play baseball. The coaches all seemed nice and I think it is going to be a good season.
Wednesday was a good workout and time with Leisa and grocery shopping and then Thursday I went to lunch with some friends, which was nice. Friday Curtis was supposed to have his first game but the field was too wet so we had a family fun night instead. Saturday Josh took the boys to baseball practice and I drove back and forth to dance 5 times. We watched the Cox children so Ben and Sarah could go on the ward temple trip. We couldn't go but I wanted to support it so I offered child care and they are the only ones who took me up on my offer. They are sweet kids and we had a good day. Benny loved all of our trucks, we walked to the park and played for awhile and Emma played with them a lot. It was great that we helped them, they helped another member in the ward get to the temple, then they all served in the temple and helped those people. It was a beautiful but busy day and we were supposed to have a family over for dinner but they ended up not coming so we ate all of Josh's pizza ourselves and had ice cream and watched the BYU basketball game. It was very exciting and we are thrilled to be headed to the Sweet 16!
Sunday was a lovely church day and then Lily had a practice AP exam and a YCL meeting and Josh didn't get home until 6:30 but we had a nice evening together. I am really enjoying teaching in primary and having the chance to teach and share my testimony at least every other week. We have a great class and it is fun to be with them and I really just love teaching the gospel.
Yesterday I took Lily to the dermatologist and then both Lily and Brandon for their annual physicals. Both are healthy and growing well and I'm grateful. Lily has finally finished her driving hours and I think she is going to pass just fine when she takes her test this week. Rachael came to do speech with Brandon and said he's doing so well that we think one more session and then we'll be done. Hooray! I had thought it would just be a summer thing and we have only been doing one a month for awhile but I will be glad to be done. His Rs sound so much better and I think her help was part of the reason he got to be King Triton. I'm proud of how hard he has worked and how humble he has been in trying to improve.
