Since we've been back

It has been a busy few weeks with regular life stuff. Teaching piano lessons, driving boys to baseball games and practices. driving girls to dance, going to the gym, grocery shopping and cleaning and cooking and all that good stuff. Josh has had a lot of church responsibilities to catch up on too.

Last Saturday Josh and Curtis went to do a service project at St. Clement's Island. Lily was supposed to go too but I found out two days beforehand that she had a rehearsal from 9:30-2 pm that day to get ready for her show coming up. It is that crazy time of year where everything is winding down so this upcoming week we have two middle school band concerts to attend as well as two baseball games, two baseball practices, the girls still have their regular dance classes and then Lily has rehearsal Saturday too. This is when I start to get tired of the stress but we just have to make a final push to June and then by June 15th, dance, piano lessons, baseball and school will all be over. We also have a lot of people coming to visit us in these next six weeks, which is awesome, but it will be a lot of work. I keep telling myself I just need to enjoy the time with people and not be a stressed hostess.

Anyway, back to last Saturday, Emma and I went to Brandon's game after dropping Lily off while the boys went to the clean up. Brandon has been playing really well lately and it is so fun to watch him get better. He did strike out twice but had hits all his other at bats and did a good job fielding. The other team was pretty well matched and we ended up just barely winning 25-22 (though they aren't supposed to keep score in this league, our coach likes to have all the stats. He is really into baseball, which makes him a great coach even if sometimes it feels a bit much). Then we went to the library and then we met the boys at Dorsey for Curtis's baseball game. He doesn't usually have Saturday games but it was a makeup from a rained out one. He has really grown a lot lately too and it is fun to watch him play. Twice Josh has had to buy him a milkshake because his hit went over the outfielder's head. Curtis could have played in the majors league (8-12) but he chose to play in the intermediate one (11-13) because he wants to be with players who are better than him. I like that mentality. He could have stayed in majors and been the best on the team but he wanted to be challenged and surrounded by good players so he moved up and it has helped him improve a lot. Plus these kids know how to play baseball so their games are fun to watch.

After the game we stopped by to see one of Josh's co-workers who had just moved into a new house and they wanted to give us a tour. It is right across the street from the Martines family so that is cool. Then we went home to get Lily, went to Sweet Frog for a treat with gift cards from Nana and then home, dinner, showers, cleaning jobs, and piano practicing.

The week before Josh was sick so that was a bummer and it was our turn to clean the building and Emma and I went to Adeline's baptism while everyone else went to Brandon's game. It has been so busy but with all good stuff. I've been working on getting the house deep cleaned and nice for all our guests so right now I am repainting the family room and next week will plant the garden and get the patio all summer ready and I have been organizing all sorts of stuff. Tuesday I cut the grass then met Sarah at the park for an hour to chat then took Lily to the orthodontist. Curtis just got some braces on so now I take both of them but Lily should be done pretty soon. We also dyed Easter eggs on Sunday and this Sunday the kids will finally get their baskets. In our house their baskets are hidden and you have to follow jelly bean trails to find them (all Josh's doing) so we needed a Sunday morning when he would actually be home and that means Mother's day.

I have been thinking about our trip a lot and I feel so much better now than I did before we went and I'm so grateful it healed me in a way. Maybe it was the sunshine or the family fun or traveling or being with Josh or being relaxed and being out of our normal routine but whatever it was, I feel happier now. February and March were emotionally challenging for me and I was down a lot but now I just feel like me. Summer is coming and it is my favorite time of year. We have a busy camp week and we're going to NC with my whole family to celebrate my parents' 60th wedding anniversary but other than that it should be pretty low key. Lily is doing FSY and a dance intensive so she will be busier than the rest of us but it is going to be a great summer. I'm excited to do more day trips and go to Six Flags and read by the pool and sleep in! But I am also excited to see my girls dance in their shows soon and I love watching my boys play ball and I'm excited for Lily to have her 8th grade celebrations/special events. I'm also excited for the temple open house which started. We are going Monday as a family and then I'll take my parents sometime while they are here in June. I wish I could go volunteer but we have something we can't miss every day our stake was assigned. I feel like I am missing out but am looking forward to going Monday and being able to take my kids inside.
