Anniversary Week

I keep trying to decide what to do about this blog. When I started it, I inteded it to be an outlet for me to write. I had dreams of writing a weekly newspaper column or contributing to a magazine and thought a blog would sharpen my skills or force me to focus. My goal was to have a friend share something I wrote on facebook and that never happened so I felt like I was missing the mark. Then covid happened and I turned it more into a journal, for me but also to connect with friends I wasn't seeing. Now we're in this strange in between of not normal life but getting closer and I just don't know if I want to keep this up or if I should go back to my original idea or if I even want to write anymore.

In the meantime, it was a challenging week. I last wrote on the 14th so that weekend was actually pretty good. I spent a lot of time at soccer practice, driving my daughter to dance, and we also had a few soccer games that were fun. Saturday night I surprised Josh with an early anniversary date. We went out for dinner and tried a new place that was pretty good and wonderfully empty, then did some clothes shopping and got dessert. It was just fun to get out and be together. We usually go to the temple on our anniversary but it is still closed and I miss it so much. I'm grateful every day that I am married to Josh. He is fun, patient, kind, devoted, honest, so forgiving and understanding and incredibly calm. I have never heard him yell and he rarely gets mad. He helps me be my best self and I love him so much.

Then Monday was our actual anniversary but long story short, Josh came home with flowers and a treat but also not feeling great. He got worse as the day went on and I kind of freaked out and sent him to get tested for covid. His rapid test came back negative so that was a relief but he still self-isolated until Wednesday afternoon when we got the lab results back, which were also negative. Monday night was awful though for him and I felt so badly that there wasn't anything I could do. He had a terrible headache but couldn't take any medicine because of the blood thinner he is still on for the clot he had (or has?) so it was rough. He was home all week but was battling a terrible work situation and a headache and it was very stressful for him and also a bit for me to handle everything, again. I have certainly not been grateful enough before for how healthy Josh has always been but I am now. He still isn't 100 percent with his ankle but at least he is feeling better and I sure hope it stays that way. He thinks it was a bad reaction to the vaccine (though it was a week later) so that makes me nervous for his second dose.

So, I was very busy with school work, yard work, house work, all kid-related needs and activities and to top it off I slept on the couch for a few nights, which was sad. I still taught piano and I also went to all of Lily's dance classes because it was costume distribution week and I needed to be there to help out. Parents haven't been allowed in the studio for over a year so it was fun to be able to go in and I took notes on everything to email out to all the other parents. I always feel like such an idiot in these kind of situations, which is why I often don't volunteer, but they needed someone and I didn't have a good reason not to do it and it gets me more involved with the studio, which I do love.  Emma's recital is in just two weeks and she is so excited. It is going to be outside on a permanent stage the studio is building and we have to bring our own chairs, which is annoying only because they are still charging us admission. When it is in a theater, I get it but for a picnic-style recital that is only going to be 30 minutes, it seems like admission should be nothing or pretty cheap. She has a little solo part in her jazz dance and is so excited for it. My sister-in-law is coming for the weekend (we haven't seen her since we were in Disney World 18 months ago) but the kids don't know she is coming yet so that is going to be a fun surprise.

Anyway, Saturday Curtis had a early soccer game and played pretty well. His team won for the first time so that was good. Then Brandon had his game and he did well too. He was so close to scoring a goal three different times. It is going to happen one of these days! Then I took Lily to her rehearsal, we got some yard work done and then I went to BJs, made dinner and we watched Full House and ate ice cream. Sunday was lovely because now our whole ward can go back to church. Josh was busy most of the day but did find time to squeeze in a game of Life with me, Emma and Brandon so that was fun.
